Boca 3 v Ashridge 1 - Southwood EBYL

Picture
FS Boca 3 Ashridge 1

Boca played there 2nd first league game of the season and got off to a
winning start........again! At one of their new homes Peter Driver, Boca
were quickly on their game. Supported by the largest crowd this venue had
seen for a long while, Boca attacked, chances were being created but the
Ashridge keeper was in great form. When Rory did eventually beat him the bar
and Russian linesman saved Ashridge and minutes later GOAL Mikey from 3mm
but no the linesman again had spotted an infringement. Everyone thought,
just maybe, it was going to be one of those days.

Boca's defence looked solid and with Harvey in commanding form, coming off
his line Ashridge struggled to break the Boca down. Ben and Quinn attacked
regularly, both looking in great form, whilst Jay and Ed stayed strong on
every Ashridge counter attack.

Finally the Boca faithful had something to cheer, a throw in down our left
saw the ball break to Chris on the edge of the box, with quick feet he shot
low to the keepers right, the cheer was heard at Southwood Boca 1 up just
before half time.

The 2nd half started in the same way, Ashridge counter attacking, Boca
having the lion's share of the ball but the 2nd goal always seemed a long
way away. Zac went close, Ed and Rory went close form Ryan's corners and
James and Mikey also looked on top but no real end product.

Boca started to panic slightly and the passing became longer and the game
was fizzling out until Adz who loves scoring at The Driver, calmed the Boca
Faithfull's nerves with a close in finish after good work from Quinn and
Zac.

Ashridge unfortunately had different ideas and Harvey was beaten for the
first time this season by a wonder strike which he still managed to get a
glove on, but only push into the roof of the net.

Nerves again could play their part but Ryan and Quinn had it all under
control. With the game again going slightly long ball Ryan was able to
thread the ball inch perfect behind their defence and Quinn without breaking
stride coolly finished and the Boca faithful again cheered as Boca saw out
the rest of the game with little drama's.

So a good game leaving the Boca happy, but with a few things to work on
during the week!! MOM was a tight one but Jay marshalled his defence and
snubbed out the Ashridge and his form will be key to us pushing the top
Berkshire sides. It was good to see Dan back from injury and with 20 minutes
under his belt should be pushing for a starting slot in the cup match next
week.

Well played again boys 3 points in the bag and really well supported thanks
to the 12th man, The Boca Faithfull.

Boca Saturday MOM Jay.

Boca 5 v Sheen Lions 1 - West Surrey League Sunday 14:00 26/9/10 Southwood

Picture
This game started as a tough test for Boca and it was clear that the Lions would take some taming! It looked like Boca were suffering a bit from some of their easy games and a few bad habits had slipped in. Boca were looking for insperation and they certainly found it in the form of Ali this week.

He lead by example, scored 3 goals and won man of the match!
Boca got their league campaign off to a flying start, watch out West Surrey League The Boca have landed !

Saturday Boca are finally in action in the league and what a start! Mikey was on target after only 2 minutes. He doubled the lead on 13 minutes to continue his amazing start to the season. Ryan, Rory, Adam, Chris and James were all on target to give Boca the dream start. Congratulations to MOM Ben.

Boca 15 v Corinthian Casuals 0 - Surrey Inv Cup Sunday 14:00 19/09/10

(yes that is 15)

Picture
Another great high score for Boca in the Surrey cup. Corinthians the in the division below us this season so we really hope we will face tougher tests. Congratualtions to the boys, you can only beat what is in front of you and as usual we did it with style and class. Four goals for Mikey and Zac, three for Kieron, two for Ali and one each for Sparky and Rory. MOM was Kieron.

Boca 6 v Oakwood FC 0 - Hampshire Cup Sunday 14:00 12/09/10

Picture
This game started off very close! Oakwood are a good team and had the better of some of the early exchanges with Boca looking a little nervous with H being called upon several times. Olly helped settle the nerves when he scored after 9 minutes and towards te end of the half Zac doubled the Boca lead. It was amazing how Boca attacked with such pace. Boca came out for the second half looking like a different team and the usual "swagger" returned to their game as they turned on the style. Zac, Ali, Mikey and Chris were all on target in the second half to help Boca cruise to victory. Although it was hard to pick a MOM due to how well the whole team played, a special mention must go to Rory as he really changed the game when he came on.

Boca 16 v Alver Valley Youth 0 - Hampshire Cup Saturday 11:00 Southwood

Picture
Things could not have gone better for Martin today in his first game in charge of the saturday Boca as they demolished their south coast visitors to move in to the second round of the Hampshire Cup. 5 goals from Zac,
3 each for Jamie, Rory and Chris. and one each for James and Ryan rounded off a fantastic performance.

Bourne Blades 1 v Boca 12 - 05/08/10 10:30 Farnham

Picture
Great goals by Quinn, Adam(2), Mikey, Ali, Chris(2), Zac(3), Olly(2) were the story that most of the Boca faithful were taking away from this game. The areas that pleased the coaches more were the fact that we kept our shape and our high tempo workrate throughout rather than everyone going out looking for goals. This was another fantastic performance but we now face much tougher tests in our opening games next weekend.

Cogratulations to MOM Zac !

Boca 4 v Bourne Blades 1 - 29/08/10 10:30 Peter Driver Pre-season

Picture
This bank holiday Sunday saw another pre-season match as Boca took on Bourne Blades at Peter Driver pitches. We played the now familiar quarters type of match allowing both sides to experiment.

Bocas’ supremacy showed despite a well organised and spirited performance from Bourne. Amazingly it took Boca 30 minutes to score with Zac hitting the net. Man of the match Kieron was on hand 8 minutes later to double the lead.

Just when it was looking like Boca would run away with it H brought down the Bourne number 9 and could not keep out the resulting penalty.

Olly scored on 55 minutes to make the score look closer to what it should be but then there was a moment of magic from the third quarter captain as he ran through most of the Bourne team to slot the ball home. This must be up there as a contender for goal of the season.

Another good pre-season outing for the Boca boys and we are sure that as the sharpness comes we will develop a much more clinical cutting edge in front of goal.

Guildford City 4  v Boca 2 - 22/08/10 11:00 Ash Manor Pre-season

Picture
This was always going to be a tough test for Boca with the quality of Guildford but it is part of the Boca master plan. We knew going into this (and the last) game we would face periods without the ball. We really want to improve what we do as a team when we do not have the ball. Once again we were impressed with what we saw with our work rate and closing down being excellent. It is great to see how we play as a team and cover for each other.

Today we agreed to play quaters and got off to a dream start 10 minutes into the first quater when an Ali long throw was headed on by zac for Olly to put away with his usual deadly accuracy. In the second quater we could not really seperate the teams but Guildford came out 1 nil up making the overall score 1-1 at what would have been half time.

Chillers wanted to have a look at a few things that could occur during a game and we sacrificed winning the friendly for the chance to try these out pre-season. Although it was a very useful exercise we conceeded three goals making it 4-1 overall.

In the final quater Boca were back in a more familiar shape and Olly scored a fantastic individual goal.

This was an impressive showing by the Boca with us winning two quaters, drawing one and loosing one against a team like Guildford.

Boca have always been great with the ball but we now believe we are better than ever without the ball. We hope that this will put us in great shape for next season.

I am sure the Boca faithful look forward to the next game as much as we do.

Congratulations to MOM Olly.

Boca 5 v Aldershot 4     17/08/10 18:30 Southwood Pre-season

Picture
Boca have given us some great games over the years but this one has to be up there with the best of them for excitement.

A very new look Boca side took to the field against the mighty Aldershot. Aldershot have also been busy during the summer and have made some great signings (some well known local players). Boca played some great football and matched Aldershot for the first 13 minutes but it was a real shame when Aldershot took the lead after 14 mins with a heavily deflected goal. Four minutes later Boca were punished again when the referee missed an obvious handball and their goal stood to put them 2 nil up.

Boca's legendary fight kicked in and they did not look troubled at all by the situation. They continued to fight and once again started to get on top. Their attitude was rewarded when Drew scored after 20 minutes to put Boca right back in it at 2-1.

Things were fairly even from there on but Aldershot displayed the more clinical finishing and found themselves 4-1 up at the halfway stage.

Supporters of lesser teams would have started to leave the ground but we all know what Boca can do. The Boca faithful felt that the 4-1 score was very flattering to Aldershot with the game having been much closer. This was proved to be the case when Ali picked the ball up 35 yards outside of the Aldershot area, beat two men and unleashed a rocket into the top corner. At 4-2 Boca were looking the better team and doubt had entered the Aldershot minds. Drew was on target to expertly finish at 44 minutes. Ollys hardwork was rewarded with a clinical finish at 56 minutes. Ed, making his Boca debut, was on hand to score the winner 2 minutes from the end and send the large Southwood crowd crazy!

Boca regulars and new signings played like a team that heve been together forever and we really look forward to the start of the season.
